Welcome to this weeks newsletter. We have had a change of staff and updating my email newsletter onto the website has only just been allocated after new staff joined the team. Hence the gap!
I got to visit the Crewe Market Hall ahead of it's opening. I have to tell you I was very very impressed! I think it is going to be a fantastic new venue, check out the information below and get yourself down there when it opens!
As part of my Roadmap Campaign I also visted Crewe Town FC for one of their training sessions. They are a fantastic local club with over 200 players and a number of teams for a wide range of ages. Maybe this is the year you or the kids join a sports team and they might be a good choice! As always, if you have a local business or organisation you would likeme to visit feel free to get in touch.
The Government this week annouced some further updates on the easing of restriction, iincluding limits of the number of people allowed at funeral being lifted as part of stage 3, as well as care home resident being able to make visits outside their residential home. This comes as more of more adults recieve their vaccine, keeping themselves and other around them safe. So far over 50 million doses have been given, including 15 million people who have been fully vaccinated with both doses. I know there are some concerns about how easily people can get a vaccine in Crewe through the national booking system and I am looking into this.
I know many people will be very glad to hear there is also now a list of 'green countries' where you will be able to go on holiday without having to quarantine on return. You can find the list here:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england
I would encourage people to 'staycation' where they can to support our economy but a lot of jobs in the UK also depend on foreign travel so going abroad helps local people and local jobs as well.
You might have seen that Hartlepool in the North East has it's first ever Conservative MP. People again and again tell me they are taking a step back and voting for who they think will get the job done, not just who they grew up voting for because their parents and grandparents did. We don't know our results locally yet, but knocking on doors in Crewe I heard again and again that people feel their votes are taken for granted and people want see local Councillors working hard for them, whatever their party. My lesson from these elections it to never take your voters for granted!
Have a good week!

ROADMAP UPDATE - FUNERAL LIMITS TO BE LIFTED
The Government announced this week that, as part of stage 3 of our roadmap out of lockdown, limits on the number of mourners who can attend a funeral will be scrapped. Stage 3, which will begin on 17th May at the earliest, will allow more than the current limit of 30 people to attend a funeral.
I know that many families and friends who have lost loved ones over the past few months have not been able to mourn in the way that they would have wanted so I am pleased to see that this rule change has been brought forward earlier than planned.
VACCINE UPDATE
The UK’s vaccine program has reached another milestone with more than 50 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered. This includes 15 million people who have now received their second dose and are now fully vaccinated. Everyone getting the vaccine is a crucial step in protecting those vulnerable against the virus and ensure we can back to normality as quickly and as safely as possible. I once again encourage all those who get called up to have theirs over the coming weeks book their appointment as soon as possible.
MORE DOCTORS AND NURSES
Fantastic news that we now have 6,300 more Doctors and 11,200 more Nurses on our NHS frontlines than a year ago. The past year has shown how much we depend on those who care for and help us when we are most in need, so it is great to see more people entering healthcare as a career. I have said again and again that whilst of course staff want a pay rise, tackling short staffing is actually what will make the biggest difference to improving what it is like to work for the NHS.
CARE HOME RESIDENTS - OUTDOOR VISITS
As of this week, residents of care homes are now able to leave their homes to spend time outdoors, outside of their residential home, without the need to isolate on return. Visits outside, so residents can visit friends and family, are an important part of care home life. However, even with the success of the vaccine program there are still risks associated with meeting outside. For this reason, certain precautions should be taken, including:
- Residents should be accompanied by either staff, nominated visitors or an essential care provider.
- Care home should discuss arrangements in advance.
- Visits should take place solely outdoors.
- Visits should not use public transport.
ROADMAP CAMPAIGN - CREWE TOWN FC
As part of my reopening campaign, I recently visited a training session with Crewe Town FC.
Crewe Town FC at The Cumberland Arena and The Alexandra Soccer Centre in Shavington and is a Charter Standard Youth Football Club. It was created in March 2018 serves the local community allowing all U14's and Adult players the chance and opportunity to be a part of something new and exciting. They were awarded Charter Standard Youth Accreditation last year by the FA showing their commitment to delivering the best possible experience for players, referees, coaches and supporters, making football safe and fun for everyone.
The Club is ultimately a local football Club and while they will enjoy our moments of success, they do not base our coaching style and player involvement on winning alone. They are promoting community citizenship, good sportsmanship and physical development through healthy organised training, competition, and teamwork for 4-14 years. There are no restrictions due to race, religion, gender, or ability. To date they have 200 players, 13 Youth Teams, Men’s First and Reserve Team and a Ladies Team.
The team currently has 16 Managers, 25 Coaches and a Committee of 8 who all work voluntarily. All the Management Team and Volunteers are FA DBS checked and all Managers are Level 1 FA First Aid trained, with Safeguarding Certificates in place and 13 FA Accredited Licensed Coaches.
Throughout the Summer the Teams will be competing in their respective Leagues due to the cancellation of Grassroots Football through Covid. They say that “as a Club, seeing the kids back at training feels really special to all of us and it helps the kids with their mental health and wellbeing and been with their friends again is refreshing.”
This last year, with the Ladies football growing Crewe Town FC have developed two Ladies Teams that will be competing in the Cheshire Ladies League at Northwich. It has really taken off as well with over 25 Ladies training on a Friday night. This year they will be developing their first U7's Girls team and U7's Boys team namely the Wildcats and Eagles and in the Summer it is they are aiming to work towards hosting a Summer Camp at weekends for players within the Community.
