Welcome to this week's newsletter which is a little early as I thought it was a good idea to remind everyone that today is the day to vote in the local elections
If we take back control of Cheshire East from Labour/Independent we will:
🌳 Scrap Labour's planned Green Bin Tax
💷 Spend your Council Tax Wisely
📈 Grow the local economy
🏘️ Improve the Planning System so it works for all
We also want to be able to introduce the Conservative plan for lane charging for utilities companies to get more money for our roads to tackle the pot holes and worn surfaces and to make sure companies don't waste days of our roads being blocked without doing any work
.
It also helps me as the MP to have local Conservative councillors to work with as I have found some Cllrs from other parties won't work with me on residents issues. That's clearly not in the best interests of residents.
A lot of our local team prefer speaking to people and getting things done than being on social media but have a look at what just some of our candidates local to you have been up to via their Facebook pages:

In other news, I met the King this week when he visited Parliament. As you can imagine it was just a quick handshake and conversation. I wished him the best for the Coronation on behalf of everyone in Crewe & Nantwich. See the not very good picture below!
If you haven't seen it already this week is your last chance to see the Crewe Amateur Musicals Society production of Calendar Girls at the Lyceum. This wonderful team of volunteers give people from the community the chance to be part of a show which helps open opportunities and raise wellbeing for hundreds of people. I'd encourage you to go along.
Enjoy the Coronation weekend and bank holiday!

Leighton Brook Litter Pick
Thank you to everyone who came down to the park this week and helped James Pratt and others clean up! We got a big helping hand but purdah rules for the election mean we can't say who helped until next week! An incredible amount of litter and fly tipping was collected. You can see the results. We appreciate the help of anyone who chips in and helps make our communities look as they should. I encourage anyone who lives in Crewe St Barnabas to vote for James today!
Meeting the King in Parliment
This Saturday marks the coronation of King Charles III. On Tuesday, His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort attended Westminster Hall for a reception.
I was honoured to meet, and shake the hand of His Majesty and wish him not only my best wishes, but the best wishes of all of us in the constiuency.
Meet Milo the Guide Dog
Milo is an incredible local guide dog who acts as a wonderful ambassador with his owner Scott. I have featured their visit to Parliament before when I had the chance to meet them. But I thought everyone would enjoy reading a recent update from Facebook of a typical day which is heartwarming!
"What a busy week Milo has had, working very hard, like a trooper, in all different situations and settings.
We have been doing the usual University days, with Milo working effortlessly around campus, keeping me safe and guiding me through and around the crowds of people (and most importantly, finding the coffee shop ha ha).
It is coming to the end of the academic year so things seem even busier than usual.
On Thursday, we were invited to a care home for people with dementia.
We spent a good chunk of the afternoon there keeping the residence company and speaking with them about Guide Dogs and my sight loss journey. It was absolutely fantastic and heartwarming to see the interaction between the residents and Milo.
There was one lady who really took to Milo, the staff were amazed as she has never shown this type of interaction before with a person or animal (not even when the have their regular visits from therapy dogs). Milo brought this out in her, and it was so heartwarming, and as Milo’s guide dog owner it actually felt quite rewarding.
Milo went straight from ‘energetic work guiding mode’ to ‘calm and settled’ in the home. It was absolutely fantastic to witness Milo and how he interacted with the residents, they all loved him and we cannot wait to visit again for a brew and a chat.
We really love enriching the lives of others and I know for definite that it made their day feel very special to have Milo visit and to spend time with.
After we had left the home, we chose to walk the 4 miles back to our house instead of getting the bus for a bit of exercise. It started really raining on the way home, but this did not put Milo off working hard, not putting a paw wrong and remembering his way home. We had a very soggy Milo and Scott at the end of the journey ha ha, but it was all worth it.
Yesterday Milo, had a vet check up and all was good. He got to see his best friend Dan which really made his day I think.
So because Milo has been an absolute legend, helping and enriching other peoples lives, as well as mine, we decided today to take a trip to town and choose some new toys for both him and Dexter Dog. Milo was very excited to get out and about today even though it was raining.
He hopped into the boot of the car, lay down and waited patiently for us to arrive at our destination.
Once we arrived I went round to back of the car, opened the boot and Milo was waiting patiently again whilst I opened his harness and took his lead.
Milo hopped out of the car and popped his head through his harness ready to guide.
First we went into the supermarket, where we did a bit of shopping and looked around for some soft toys. Milo was absolutely fantastic around the supermarket, guiding me through the people, up and down the aisles (it seemed extra busy with staff today too, shelves being restocked and home shopping workers picking shopping, making navigating the aisles a little more adventurous for Milo haha). We did not have a certain direction we were going in so I asked Milo to follow Amanda most of the time, unless my daughter Darcey was with me, telling us where she wanted to go.
We didn’t find any toys that we liked in the supermarket, so we headed off somewhere else into the town.
It was raining quite a bit but luckily we managed to stay under shelter for 90% of the time so we kept pretty dry.
At the next shop we visited Darcey and Milo found some amazing toys which Milo really loved 🥰.
After bringing the toys home and showing Dexter what we had bought for them both they had a play around and now they’re both flat out asleep in their beds.
I’m sure they are both thinking it’s a perfect Sunday afternoon. 💙💛"

Storage Space for Local Charities
I hold regular meetings with local charities and volunteer groups and one thing that frequently comes up is the need for storage space. Maybe you have a business with an unused container or space for one or maybe you have an empty garage. I know local groups that could make use of the space.
Please get in contact if you know anywhere we could suggest!
