Welcome to this week's newsletter. I have spent a lot of time this week knocking on doors speaking to residents about what they want from Cheshire East ahead of the election on the 4th of May.
Better quality road repairs, better managed road closures, more done to tackle fly tipping, littering and dog fouling and fairer parking come up the most. As well as concerns about our high streets.
I will work hard to make sure local council candidates hear these concerns. I would ask everyone to cast their votes for candidates that actually go out and get things done for them.
I also think the Conservative plan to charge companies that dig up the roads is a great idea for making them work more quickly and efficiently as well as to a way to raise money. Other councils do it so why can't we! Postal votes will have landed this week for the local elections. A reminder to everyone that green waste bin charges are on their way if Labour/Independent get in!
Next Friday (28th April) I am helping with a resident litter pick in Crewe St Barnabas along Leighton Brook at 1pm. It has been organised by local resident James Pratt who is running for election. Let me know if you live by and use Leighton Greenway and want to see it improved and can come along.
I was sad to see Barry Humphries died today. I remember watching the Dame Edna Everage show when I was younger and was a huge fan. I know he got complaints more recently for his style of humour, but often people didn't understand his comedy was satirising rather than meant to be taken literally. I for one will miss him!
A reminder we will have the emergency alert system test this weekend-more information below including how to switch it off if you need to.
I know Dominic Raab resigning is in the news. I don't know exactly what happened and there are very few details in the report. It seems that some of how he interacted with people isn't how I would go about things and he has apologised. But, I have to admit to being frustrated that we seem much more concerned about how people who aren't doing a good job are told that, than we are about the fact it is pretty much impossible to be strict with people poorly performing in the workplace without being called a bully. Yes being rude and inconsiderate are not how you should be at work, but that doesn't make you a bully. I think that is something that needs as much attention as well, if not more. Anybody I speak to who works in HR thinks its becoming a real problem.
This week I also attended a meeting with residents of the Bombardier development in Crewe that seem to me have been badly let down by both Cheshire East and the developer and I am doing what I can to support them and get accountability for what has happened.
It is great to see the outdoor pool in Nantwich reopen this week. Great weather for it this week! It is just open for members to start but opens more widely this weekend. Further details below.
Have a great weekend.

NHS PARLIAMENTARY AWARDS
Help Me Choose Local Nominations
Do you know someone who provides health or social care who has gone above and beyond? I know we have challenges with the government and some union members still not agreeing a pay deal. I understand concerns from staff but I also recognise that the government is worried about spending and inflation.
But I didn't want the industrial dispute to mean we didn't carry on with the ways in which we recognise NHS staff away from politics and pay. So as usual I am searching for nominees for the 2023 NHS Parliamentary Awards.
As your MP, I can submit nominations for each of the award categories and I want to hear from you about any of the outstanding staff you may know. Nominees could be an individual, a team, or an entire organisation. Nominees don’t have to be working within the NHS – these awards are for anyone working for or with the NHS towards the shared goal of delivering health and high-quality care, now and for future generations.
All of the award categories can be found here: Categories | NHS Parliamentary Awards
Contact me on my website if you wish to nominate someone and we will send you over a nomination form:
