Welcome to this week’s newsletter.
The winner of my 2022 Christmas Card Competition has been announced by a special guest (look below to find out who!) Congratulations to Isabella from Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School who won with her creative reindeer design. A special well done as well to those who did really well and came as close runners up! Thank you to everyone who took part!
This week, I went along to the Police Federations Christmas Reception in Parliament. My dad being a policeman and myself serving as a special constable has given me a great deal of respect for our officers and the work that they do.
Also, the Government has signed a new energy deal with the United States. This is aimed at reducing the global reliance on Russian energy following the war in Ukraine - while keeping costs down at home. We will also work together on investing in renewables and nuclear.
With the cold weather kicking in I wanted to remind people that some people will be eligbile for cold weather payments, check below how to find out.
We had another fantastic bingo fundraiser this week-if you want to put forward a good cause to be sponsored then get in touch.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

POLICE FEDERATION MEETING
It was great to go along to the Police Federation of England’s Christmas Reception in Parliament this week - to learn more about their work.
I have great respect for our police officers - my dad being a policeman and serving as a special constable myself - I understand first hand the hard and dedicated work that they do.
ENERGY DEAL WITH THE US
It is positive news that we have signed a new energy deal with the US. The war in Ukraine has shown very clearly that the world should not rely on Russia for its energy.
It is important we find new sources so that the global dependence on Russia reduces while it keeps prices more affordable for hard working households here.
Under this deal, the US aims to more than double the amount of gas exported to the UK in 2021. We will also work together to improve energy efficiency and drive investment on renewables and new nuclear power sources.

The UK and US will work together to increase energy security and drive down prices, as part of an initiative announced by the Prime Minister and US President Biden on 7th December.
BINGO
It was great to go to Bingo at the start of the month to take part and put some tinsel on to bring the festive feel to the community!
We raised £253 for Brookfield allotments that can be well spent harvesting and keeping the allotment tidy next year.
Our allotments are vital community spaces that encourage healthy living, promote outdoor activities that improve mental health and help build a sense of community among local people.
COLD WEATHER PAYMENTS
This winter is very cold and Cold Weather Payments are now going out to households from the Department for Work and Pensions.
Please check your availability now to see if you can get some help with your energy bills this Winter.
You can use this link to check whether your postcode qualifies for the payment: Cold Weather Payments Checker - Gov UK (dwp.gov.uk)
