Welcome to this week's newsletter.
As we have a new Transport Secretary I wanted to find a way to once again highlight the support for Crewe to host the new Great British Railways Headquarters now that the campaigning and public vote has ended. So I organised this week for a group of fellow Conservative MPs to write to the new Transport Secretary, outlining just why Crewe is the best place for this investment. There were 18 of us in total and it is also great to see we have cross party support, with Labour MPs doing the same. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this important campaign.
In exciting news, Nantwich will soon be getting a new boxing club aimed at young people. I have been working with Simon, the clubs founder, for some time to help him find a suitable venue. Again and again options we explored didn't work out.
Thanks to a chance meeting I had with local businessman Mark Schofield we found out that the Thai restaurant his company owned on Welsh Row was now vacant. As it is due to be demolished as part of the Riverside Development Mark kindly agreed to allow Simon to use it for a year. This will help Simon get the club off the ground and prove its popularity as we aim for a permanent home. And the buzz building so far makes me optimistic! Find out more about Simon and what he wants to achieve below.
The 15th Words & Music Festival kicks off in Nantwich on Monday. It is great to see the festival return. It's something else we can be proud of that puts Nantwich on the map which helps with trade and tourism all year round. Find out more on their website:

Have a great weekend.

North West MPs Back Crewe's GBR Bid
Conservative MPs from across the North West have joined together to back our bid for Crewe to become the home of Great British Railways. This comes after Labour MPs did the same, bringing cross party support. This is something people want regardless of party.
I worked with 18 MPs to send a joint letter to the new Secretary of State for Transport Anne-Marie Trevelyan.
The letter highlights the benefits the HQ would bring to the wider region.
It is fantastic to have support from across the region and it is perfectly timed to put the bid right back in focus with the new Transport Secretary. Our whole campaign has relied on lots of different people working together. This is another way in which we have spoken with a united voice which is always powerful. I want to thank all of these MPs for their support.
New Nantwich Boxing Club
It is fantastic news that a new boxing club aimed at young people is going to open on Welsh Row in Nantwich. I have been working with Simon, the clubs founder, to help find them a suitable place locally for their facilities for around a year.
Simon has been boxing since he was 10. Simon spent eight years coaching at South Cheshire Amateur Boxing Club in Crewe before he started planning on opening his own gym. He approached me because he thought some of the issues we were having locally with anti social behaviour could be addressed by the club engaging young people.

I recently went to the site to see the work that is already being done. It is incredibly exciting to see everything Simon his wife Claire and his team have already achieved with the building and the buzz growing.
Simon can be proud of coming up with an idea and keeping going even though we got a lot of no's before we got this yes. I also want to give a huge thanks to the volunteers who have already signed up to help coach.
Party Conference Stands
Every year, I get asked by local people to go and talk to some of the charities and organisations that have stands at Conservative Party Conference about the work they do and the campaigns they are running.
This time, I had a chance to speak to Marie Curie UK, Alzheimer's Society, The British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK about a range of issue such as dementia diagnosis, end of life care and encouraging people to take blood pressure readings.
Thank you for taking the time to chat with me and for the vital campaigning you are doing.
