Welcome to this weeks newsletter.
I'd like to ask for your help! If you think I've done a good job as your MP and want to see me re-elected, I am looking for people who would help me deliver my newsletters. For those people not online or on Facebook it can be hard to know what I've been doing on their behalf. The newsletters help me close that gap. But there are 20,000 to deliver in Crewe alone. If you can spare an hour to deliver a few let me know.
Over the summer, many local organisations have provided sessions to children on benefits related free school meals under the Holiday Activities Programme. I have tried to go along to as many as I can over the holidays, and this week I joined Friends for Leisure once again, this time for a drama session! Thank you to everyone who has help run these sessions.
Crewe Town FC held their fun day last weekend, which I went along to. It was a great day out, which many local families and residents came out for. It also raised over £1,500! Well done to everyone involved in organising such a fun day.
I also went along to the Wistaston Flower and Produce Show, put on by the Wistaston Community Council. Well done to the worthy winners! If you live in Wistaston why not think about taking part next year. There are lots of categories.
Support for Armed Forces Personnel and Veterans once they leave the service is incredibly important. That is why groups like the Armed Forces and Veterans Club, who meet every Saturday, are vital. I went along to their meeting last week, and they are a very friendly bunch!
Bingo is back Thursday next week at Hough Village Hall at 7pm raising money for Chance Changing Lives.
Finally, Ukraine marked their 31st Independence Day this week. It is important that we do not forget the struggle that they are still fighting every day. We must continue to support the brave and dedicated people of Ukraine in their fight.
Have a great weekend.

Crewe Town FC Fun Day
Last weekend, I went along to Crewe Town FC's Fun Day, hosted at Crewe Vagrants Sports Club.
It was a great day which raised over £1500!
They had food stalls as well as activities such as football games, face painting and bouncy castles. A fun family day out!
Thank you to everyone who made this possible. As is so often the case, this sports team are only able to help people in the way they do because of volunteers who organise the club and coach.
I am hoping the plans to give Crewe FC their own home will free up space at the Cumberland for other local teams just like Crewe Town FC. The more people playing football the better. Thanks to Club Chairman John Edge for inviting me down.
Holiday Activities - Friends for Leisure
You may remember in last week's newsletter I went along to a session run by Friends for Leisure, a local group that helps young people and children with disabilities make friends and enjoy leisure activities. I didn't add the photos to the article so I have put them above now!
I also went along to another one of their sessions earlier this week. This was a drama session run by Rachel from Play Pizzazz, a local organisation that runs creative, well-being based activities for families.
You can find more about them here: https://www.playpizzazz.com/
Once again all of these sessions are done under the Holiday Activities Programme which has provided free sessions for children on benefits related free school meals. It has been great going along to just some of these that have taken place over the summer holiday. I will, of course, once again advertise the next lot during the next period of holidays.
Wistaston Flower and Produce Show
Thank you to everyone from Wistaston Community Council who worked so hard to put on Saturday’s Wistaston Flower and Produce Show. There was hot competition for the different classes from the entrants. Congratulations go to the very worthy winners. Pictured above is Linda Yuill who wont 9 1st Prizes with treats like her cup cakes, apple pie, quiche and cup cakes. A great afternoon Thank you to everyone and thanks to local Cllr Margaret Simon for showing me round.
Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club
Thank to The Four Eagles and Ian for having me at the Crewe Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club.
They are very friendly group of serving members and veterans of the armed forced who meet weekly to chat to like-minded people.
Crewe AFVBC meet every here every Saturday, find out more here: https://www.afvbc.net/find-a-club/crewe-armed-forces-veterans-breakfast-club/
Ukrainian Independence Day
On Wednesday, Ukraine marked 31 years since it gained independence.
It's all to easy to forget what is happening over there. Brave men and women fighting and dying for their country, innocent civilians being killed, people watching parts of their country being destroyed.
But none of us can question the Ukrainian people's determination and pride and I will continue to push the government to provide them with the weapons they need to match their spirit!
I hope the rest of Europe stands strong alongside them.
DWP - Work Experience
Last week, I had Angela come to my office for work experience. As part of her week with us, she came with me on a visit to the DWP offices in Crewe. This is what she said about her time there.
On Thursday 18th August I accompanied Dr Kieran Mullan to the DWP office in Crewe. The office staff were very welcoming and it was clear how invested they were in their work. They talked about the importance of their Work Coaches on helping individuals and families achieve financial independence through work.
The DWP staff expressed that the biggest benefit of working in the DWP is how rewarding the work is. An example of this is the Ukraine and Afghan migrants eagerly coming into the DWP office to find work and support their families. The staff were amazed by their work ethic and perseverance and felt a sense of personal fulfilment when they quickly found jobs.
Bingo
Bingo is back next week!
If you have a free evening why not come down to Hough Village Hall at 7pm on 1st September for our charity bingo game.
You'll be helping raise money for good local causes as well as having a fun evening out! Next week we are raising money for Chance Changing Lives.
