Location: Bexhill Constituency Office
Salary: £24,785 - In line with IPSA guidelines
Dr Kieran Mullan MP is seeking an enthusiastic and hard‑working individual to join his Bexhill constituency office team as a paid Constituency Office Intern on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract from July 2026. This role would be well suited to someone at an early stage in their career, including a college leaver or university placement student.
As a Constituency Office Intern, you will gain structured, hands‑on experience in a busy MP’s office, supporting the delivery of constituency services under the supervision of experienced staff. The role will involve assisting with constituent casework, administration, research and communications. You will support local residents and engage with a wide range of issues affecting the constituency, while developing valuable transferable skills such as communication, organisation, research and professional correspondence.
Full training will be provided, and you will be supported by a friendly, small team. Dr Mullan MP welcomes applications from all backgrounds and is committed to equal opportunities.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the logging and progression of constituent enquiries
- Drafting correspondence under supervision
- Liaising with local authorities, government departments, and third‑sector bodies
- Supporting research into local and national issues
- Providing administrative support
- Answering telephone calls and welcoming visitors
- Assisting with constituency surgeries, meetings, and visits
Person Specification
Essential
- Enthusiasm and a strong willingness to learn
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- A friendly, professional, and respectful approach when dealing with the public
- Basic IT skills (email, word processing)
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a small team
Desirable
- A genuine interest in politics, public service and current affairs
- An interest in local issues
- Clean drivers licence
