Merry Christmas!
Now that Parliament has broken up for Christmas, I want to wish everyone across Bexhill and Battle a Merry Christmas.
Over the last twelve months I have spent a lot of time out and about in the constituency, visiting local businesses, schools, nurseries, colleges and community groups. Meeting people who give their time to help others, whether through their work or as volunteers, has been one of the most rewarding parts of the year and continues to shape what I do in Parliament.
I’m also conscious that Christmas can be a lonely time for some people. If you, or someone you know, would welcome a bit of company over the festive period, there are some brilliant local groups offering support and friendship.
Friends of Flossie Long are hosting a Christmas Day lunch on 25 December at 12.30 pm at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, 20 Glassenbury Drive, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN40 2NY. It’s open to anyone who would rather not spend Christmas Day on their own. Transport can be arranged, and they can also deliver a lunch to anyone who isn’t able to get there. To find out more or book a place, call 07480 646 276, email [email protected], or visit www.friendsoflossielong.org.
The Old Bexhillians Walking Football Club are also organising some friendly, easy walks over the festive period. These will meet at the Sailing Club on Bexhill seafront at 9.30 am on 25, 26 and 31 December, and 1 January. The walks are open to everyone and you don’t need to be a club member. They’re a lovely way to get some fresh air, have a chat, and feel a bit more connected over the holidays.
I know not everyone gets to enjoy Christmas as a break. So I would like to thank everyone working in public service or volunteering over the festive period. Your efforts help keep our communities safe, supported and connected at this time of year.
I am proud of the work done this year representing the people of Bexhill and Battle in Parliament, and I look forward to continuing that work in the year ahead.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
