Dr Kieran Mullan, MP for Bexhill and Battle, visited the Rother Family Hub at Sidley Community Centre last Friday to learn more about the wide range of support available for families and young people aged 0–19.

Kieran was welcomed by Hub Manager Aimee Richards and Tina Pelini, Operations Director of Family Hubs for East Sussex, who showed him around the centre. During the visit, he dropped into a lively baby group session, where more than 20 parents and carers were enjoying playtime and activities with their little ones.

The Family Hub offers a variety of regular sessions both at Sidley and across rural Rother, providing a warm, inclusive space supported by trained early years practitioners.

Aimee and Tina also shared details of the hub’s recently launched Family Advice Line — a free phone service designed to support anyone managing the ups and downs of family life. The service offers guidance on a wide range of topics, including emotional wellbeing, supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities, managing financial or housing concerns, employment issues, children’s behaviour, and local activities for all ages. As well as practical advice and signposting to other services, the team are there simply to listen when times feel tough.

 Kieran said:

“It was fantastic to see first-hand how the Rother Family Hub in Sidley is supporting so many families through the challenges of parenthood – one of the toughest but most rewarding jobs there is. From antenatal classes and baby groups to youth activities and courses, the hub really is a one-stop shop for support from pregnancy onwards.

“I was particularly impressed by the success of the Family Advice Line, which is helping families at every stage of childhood. It’s great to see this service continuing to grow, and I would encourage anyone who needs support or advice to get in touch.”

The Family Advice Line can be reached on 01323 46 46 55. Further information on Family Hubs is available at this link Family hubs | Family hubs
