Bexhill MP, Dr Kieran Mullan recently visited the junior session of Table Tennis Rother, held every Friday during term time at Pebsham Community Centre, where he met young players, their families and club volunteers, and picked up a bat to join in.

The club is run by Kevin J Haffenden, Head Coach for Table Tennis Rother, who has helped create a welcoming environment for players of all ages and abilities.  The junior session, which runs from 6.30pm to 7.30pm every Friday during term time, gives local young people the opportunity to learn table tennis, improve their skills and enjoy taking part in sport in a friendly and supportive setting. The club also runs a senior session every Friday morning from 10.30am to 11.30am, welcoming players of all abilities.

During his visit, Dr Mullan joined in with the activities, picking up a bat and enjoying a game with some of the club's junior members and Cllr Gareth Delaney, the Rother District Councillor for Pebsham and who is involved with the club.

The MP also helped hand out attendance certificates to a number of dedicated young players, recognising their commitment to the club. Among those receiving special recognition was one young man who has attended an impressive 157 sessions, highlighting both his dedication and the popularity of the club.

Dr Mullan also spent time speaking with parents and carers, who shared how much their children enjoy attending each week. They explained that the club provides opportunities for young people to make friends outside of school, learn a new sport, build confidence and most importantly have fun in a safe and welcoming environment.

Kieran Mullan MP said:

It was a pleasure to visit Pebsham Table Tennis Club and meet so many enthusiastic young people. I enjoyed having a go myself and was impressed by the standard of play and the dedication shown by the club's members. It was particularly inspiring to meet a young player who has attended 157 sessions. That level of commitment says a great deal about both the individual and the welcoming atmosphere that the club has created.

Parents and carers spoke very positively about the benefits the club brings, from helping children make friends outside school to learning new skills and staying active. Clubs like this are a real asset to our community."

Kevin J Haffenden, Head Coach at Table Tennis Rother, said:

We were delighted to welcome Kieran to the club and give him the opportunity to see first-hand the positive impact table tennis can have on young people. Our junior members work hard, support one another and have great fun each week, and it was fantastic to see their commitment recognised through the attendance awards."

Pebsham Table Tennis Club provides opportunities for local people of all ages to stay active, learn new skills and enjoy the social benefits of sport through its regular junior and senior sessions at Pebsham Community Centre. For more information www.tabletennisrother.co.uk
