Dr Kieran Mullan MP held a well-attended Community Conversation event in Battle, giving local residents the opportunity to speak to him directly about issues affecting the town and wider national concerns.
The event, held on Thursday, formed part of Kieran’s new series of Community Conversations taking place across the Bexhill and Battle constituency.
The events have been launched to make it easier for residents across the constituency to meet their MP closer to home. Kieran is taking the events to different towns and villages that are more accessible for everyone.
The Battle event follows the first Community Conversation held in Northiam and is part of Kieran’s plans to hold further events in communities across the constituency.
Dr Kieran Mullan MP said:
I was really pleased with the turnout in Battle and I want to thank everyone who took the time to come along.
One of the reasons I launched Community Conversations is because we are a vast constituency. My office is in Bexhill, but I know that isn’t always convenient or accessible for residents living elsewhere.
I want to make sure people have opportunities to speak to me face-to-face in their own communities, whether they want to raise something happening locally or share their views on the big national issues.
There was a really good range of questions and discussion in Battle, and it was useful for me to hear directly from residents about what matters to them. Concerns about local housing development in the context of water shortages, poor road infrastructure and strained GP services came through loud and clear. I'm determined to carry on speaking out against the ridiculous housing targets being imposed on us by a Labour government that has lowered targets for our big cities by tens of thousands whilst asking areas like ours to build thousands more. It makes no sense."
