The government has put forward proposals designed to crack down on rogue car parking firms that will form part of a new Parking Code of Practice and Framework. I want to get behind these plans to make sure they happen and I think lots of residents will as well!
I know from cases I have dealt with that letters can be sent out late, signs can be unclear and not enough support is given to people with extenuating circumstances. The government wants to crack down on rogue operators and make the system fairer. Those of us who felt the ticket was unfair and raised this with the parking company may have vastly different experiences of how the appeals process works
The proposals include
-a single appeals route
-a cap and tiers for fines
-a 10 minute grace period
-rules on when the operators have to give you some leeway
-a national scrutiny & standards board
I support these plans and want to encourage people to have their say and if they agree with them give them your support! I know how difficult it can be taking the time to take part in full with government consultations like this so like I did with plans to change sentencing I want to make it easy for you to have your say on the key issues.
Fill out the survey below and include examples when you have had a poor service and I will send this into the government. If you want to complete the full consultation directly yourself you can do so here (https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/parking-code-enforcement-framework)
